Educational assessment or educational evaluation is the systematic process of documenting and
using empirical data on the knowledge, skill, attitudes, and beliefs to refine programs and improve student learning.
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT
The purpose of formative assessment is to monitor our students learning and provide
ongoing feedback to staff and students. It is assessment for our children’s learning.
It refers to a wide variety of methods that teachers use to conduct in-process evaluations of
student comprehension, learning needs, and academic progress during a lesson, unit or course.
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT
The goal of summative assessment is to evaluate our students learning at the end
of an instructional unit by comparing it against some standard or benchmark. It is given to
our students at the end of an instructional period. They are evaluative rather than diagnosti
and are used to measure whether a course’s learning objectives were met.
EXAMINATION
Exams develop the children as an individual, give values, extraordinary thinking, self assessment,
overcome failures. Exam help us to understand the mental capacity of the students and to rectify the child’s
shortcomings. Our exams and tests are a great way to assess what the students have learned with regards to
particular subjects.
PARENT TEACHER MEET
This meeting is between parents and teachers to discuss about the children’s learning and progress.
We discuss about the child’s progress at school and find solutions to academic or behavior problems of the
children. Our main objective is to identify the child’s strength and weakness. The meeting is conducted after
every test and exams, the report card will be distributed to the parents. It is an opportunity to exchange
observation of a child with each other.
